Meet The Team

Deborah Kekone

Graphic Designer

Deborah Kekone joined the VMA team in February 2020 as a part-time graphic designer, working with education and infrastructure clients to create communications materials for print, web and digital marketing.

Deborah studied graphic design at Brooks College and Woodbury University, receiving a degree in Visual Communications. She started her career as a newspaper advertising production artist at the San Bernardino Sun and LA Times, and later at a national advertising agency, designing film marketing for placement in over 80 publications each week. In the years that followed, she worked as a graphic designer for CSU Long Beach’s Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden as well as boutique design, communications and advertising firms throughout Los Angeles.

Her time at newspapers developed strong time-management skills that blend with the clean, refined design aesthetic she honed at the design firms. This was the foundation for launching a freelance career in 2009 specializing in nonprofit, professional service and education clientele … that eventually led her to VMA.

Deborah lives in Claremont, California with her husband, two sons, cat and dog. She is currently on the boards of Claremont Educational Foundation (CEF), serving as Immediate Past President and Communications Committee Co-Chair, and Ophelia’s Jump Productions, a regional non-profit theatre company. She has been an active committee member for several local election campaigns and is also a regular committee member for fundraisers at her children’s schools. In her free time, Deborah enjoys taking care of her vegetable garden, cooking, reading and interior design.
