Meet The Team
Director, Education Services
William Diepenbrock provides strategic media relations guidance and oversees the California School News website and social media platforms, which stimulate a timely flow of positive news about the successes achieved by public school districts.
He writes and edits daily media e-blasts, press releases and alerts and helps manage the public relations needs of VMA’s education clients.
William is a former editor for the Orange County Register, where for 16 years he helmed teams focused on coverage of K-12 and higher education, science, environment, technology, local and state government, crime and courts. He helped transition the company to its digital news presentation platform, led the Register’s database reporting effort, and edited and designed the media company’s first e-book.
He previously worked as metro editor for the San Bernardino County Sun and as a reporter at the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. He has written on education policy issues for state and national publications, and is the author of a family history book.
William’s work with California media has given him an intimate understanding of the topics and events that secure strong media coverage.
He is a senior adjunct instructor at the University of La Verne, where for eight years he has taught journalism and public relations writing fundamentals, advanced beat reporting and writing for digital platforms.
He is active in local nonprofit volunteer groups, including AYSO. He is also a member of the School Advisory Council for his daughter’s K-8 school.
William graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in English.Send William an Email
