Hannah Flanagan’s experience and insights regarding school operations and community communications uniquely support VMA’s education and community engagement clients.
As an education advocate, she has been involved in the Bellflower Unified School District, serving on the Board of Education. Past roles include PTA president, chairperson of the Citizens Oversight Committee for a bond measure, and legislation director for the Bellflower Council of Parents and Teachers Associations.
Beyond education, other VMA projects range from the California water tunnel project and California High-Speed Rail outreach efforts, to promoting older adult wellness programs for Beach Cities Health District. She has developed and implemented strategic community outreach programs that include multi-tiered communications tactics, such as media relations, interagency coordination, collateral development, social media, web-based outreach, and community open houses, where complex programs and processes are explained through story boards, video and graphic illustrations to diverse communities in several languages.
Hannah graduated summa cum laude from Cal State University Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Law and Society. Her extensive coursework in public institutions and policy, coupled with training in Title VI and environmental justice compliance, provide a foundation for working with diverse populations throughout Southern California.
