Karina Lazo, who joined VMA in early 2021, assists with community outreach for the California High-Speed Rail Project, administrative duties for South Coast AQMD — Eastern Coachella Valley, and highlighting and promoting city initiatives, goals, and plans for the City of Whittier.
Karina graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Latina/o Studies. During her academic career, she developed an affinity for public speaking, application of dialogue facilitation skills, and effective collaborative decision-making. She also honed the ability to analyze and critique communication practices and policies between organizations.
In her free time, Karina enjoys watching and listening to true crime television series and podcasts.
